Crisis Intervention
Inside Out is a day program designed to provide crisis intervention services through community respite. Youth who receive Out-of-School suspension are provided the opportunity to engage in meaningful community-based activities. Youth are encouraged to identify goals, explore coping strategies, and make a plan to successfully reintegrate into their school community.
Jackson and Macon County Schools partner with HIGHTS to connect their students to Inside Out, a Community Crisis Respite program. Youth will spend the day participating in community service projects, learning emotional regulation skills, and being monitored for any unmet behavioral health needs. Inside Out also provides opportunities to complete virtual learning and online tutoring.
Western Carolina University’s Psychology and Social Work Departments provide expertise with mental health screenings and student leadership in providing vocational training and connecting youth to their communities.
